Paper clay + watercolor = DELIGHT!

Have you ever used light weight paper clay? It's usually sold in small quantities at craft stores. When I purchased some, it was white. While researching this product last night, I see it's also available in colors. The white was perfect for me for this particular project because I knew I wanted to paint the dried pieces in the delicious colors of fall.

I made these scrapbook embellishments to celebrate my favorite time of year--fall. I love the colorful, rustic earthy tones of this season. I love the cooler, crisp air, too. And this clay is an air-dry clay. No baking needed!

For this project I used tiny cutters from Pampered Chef, or cut the shapes freehand with a sharp craft knife. The sharpness isn't because the clay is difficult to cut; it's because I like to get detailed.

The other techniques I used for the embellishments are sewing on cardstock (I used heavy weight thread that denim jeans are made with), stamping with distress ink, and I also printed on the cardstock with my HP printer before the paper was cut to smaller sizes.

Hi Jenny! You are so awesome! I hope you post some cookie decorating 101! The only fancy cake thing I know is put a doiley on a cake and sprinkle powdered sugar on it and remove the doiley. Not sure I spelled doiley right, you don't offer spellcheck here. Thats okay because you spelled produse More later, Maggie

Thanks, Maggie! I fixed my typo...I re-read the post twice and didn't catch it...The curse of always being in a hurry to start the next project, I guess! By the way, I only enjoyed decorating cookies when my sister Sandy had us help her with her delicious Christmas cookies. As a grown up, I'm not so interested. Too many bowls of different colored frosting and junk...

These turned out so cool. I love fall, it's my favorite time of year, and your little pumpkins and gourds are just perfect. :)
