Rare moment of peace

If I could just get all the way through Siblings Without Rivalry, perhaps I'd deal with the fighting with a sense of calm assertiveness. Wait a second....isn't that Dog Whisperer-speak?

But really, Connor doesn't like his little brother and the LB has learned to play hard ball as well.

I don't like it.

Today, I took the boys down to our local park so we could enjoy this rare beautiful weather. It was only a tad bit chilly, but so sunny...

My younger son and I practiced tennis. He is six, and taking some basic tennis lessons through our park district. He loves the class, and it was his idea to practice at the park's tennis courts. I was surprisingly patient for the first 20-25 minutes, but then my lower back began to bother me more and I was finding it painful to move too quickly. Thus chasing three tennis balls was a pain.

So we went over to the play structure where Connor was practicing kicking his soccer ball over the entire structure. Eventually, the two boys played together. It was a beautiful thing. God, how I long to see the big brother put an arm around his little brother and just be nice. I know this is possible. I've witnessed it in families. I think this speaks volumes about the type of family we are.

Ah well. What can I do?

I would be more concerned if they DIDN'T fight. At least you know they're human and not aliens from another galaxy:)
